The secret is not the places: it is how you connect them

Look at the map: Comuna 13 sits on a western hillside. Downtown lies at the bottom of the valley. The lookouts are up high. Pueblito Paisa is on a hill in the middle. The good restaurants are scattered between Laureles and El Poblado. Medellín's must-dos are sprawled across a city of hills — and that is where most plans break.

The typical plan goes: Uber, traffic jam, arrive, walk, get tired, Uber, traffic jam, arrive... By three in the afternoon you have seen two places, your feet ache, and half the day is gone inside an air-conditioned car staring at your phone — that is, without seeing the city you came for.
