Original Wayuu Backpacks

The Wayuu backpack is not just an accessory: it's a language. Each backpack is handwoven in La Guajira by Wayuu women, and a single piece can take 15 to 30 days on traditional looms. The patterns (kanaas) represent elements of the desert, family, and cosmology of an indigenous people living between Colombia and Venezuela.

At MOVE, we work with Wayuu artisan cooperatives to ensure fair trade: we pay fair prices directly to the weavers, without intermediaries. We have large shoulder backpacks, medium backpacks, coin purses, and watchbands, always in vibrant colors and unique patterns that are never repeated.

Pick up your backpack for free at our Laureles store (Calle 44a #70-79) or arrange delivery in Medellín and nationwide by courier. Write to us via WhatsApp: we send real photos of the available backpacks because each one is different and deserves for you to choose yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the backpacks original and fair trade?

Yes. We work directly with Wayuu artisan cooperatives from La Guajira. Each backpack bears the signature or initials of the weaver inside and we pay a fair price without intermediaries. No industrial imitations.

Are all backpacks different?

Yes, absolutely. Each Wayuu backpack is unique: patterns (kanaas), colors, and exact size vary from one to another. That's why you should write to us via WhatsApp, and we'll send real photos for you to choose yours.

How do I care for my Wayuu backpack?

Hand wash with cold water and mild soap, without rubbing. Air dry in the shade. Do not use a washing machine or dryer, the weave is delicate and the colors are natural. With proper care, it can last for decades.
