🎉 Chiva Party Bus in Medellín — A Night Tour on Colombia's Most Iconic Bus
A chiva is not just another tour bus: it's the most Colombian vehicle there is, and it was born right here. In 1908, engineer Luciano Restrepo and mechanic Roberto Tisnés fitted the first wooden body onto a truck chassis in Medellín — and out came the bus that spent a century connecting Antioquia's mountain villages along roads nothing else could handle. Long wooden benches, an open roof, the rear ladder that earned it the nickname *bus escalera* (ladder bus), and bodywork painted in yellow, blue and red. At night, that same chiva turns into a party. Sound system on board, lights strung along the outside, and around three hours rolling through a lit-up Medellín: the Cuarta Sur bridge, Avenida El Poblado, Parques del Río, Parque de los Pies Descalzos, the Milla de Oro, Parque del Poblado, Parque Lleras and Provenza. Locals call it a chiva rumbera, and it's what they book for a birthday, a send-off, or simply a Friday night. It's the perfect way to close the day you spent pedalling Medellín with us: ride the city by e-bike in the daylight, then watch it light up from a wooden bench with the music turned all the way up. Departures: every day from 7:00 p.m. On weekends, also at 2:00 p.m.
